Choosing what to do in Wales with only 1 days was a process. We took the suggestion of someone I met from England and headed to the coast to Caernarfon Castle. It was a massive fortress with so much water access in a small town. Our day in Wales was the first rain that we experiences, but it didn't slow us down. All of the castle was open for prowling and exploring and we tried to hit every corner and crevice, some of it because we were a little lost and disoriented after walking up so many spiral staircases.
There were 2 museums in the castle as well, one on the history of the Princes of Wales and one on the Welsh military. It was cool to see the place where the investiture of Prince Charles took place. The castle must have served as an amazing strong hold.
The top of a tower.
Most of the wooden floors and walkways were missing from several parts of the castle, making it seem even more ancient.
A wooden walkway about 7 stories up.
Walking the inner wall.
The town of Caernarfon below, and Lauritz. The streets of the town were so close to the castle walls.
From the bay into the ocean.
A remaining stain glass window in a tower room.
The other side of the bay, when we arrived all of the boats were sitting in the mud with no water at low tide. Such a different site as the tide came in.
