July family fun

We had a great time with my niece, Alaina, staying with us for most of the month. She was a blast to have around, and seemed to make us realize how old we really are. We tried to keep her busy and find some fun. Here are a few shots from a hike in the rain at Guardsman's Pass. Pretty cute.
These are from the trip that we took to Temple Square- it is always amazing how the flowers can look so nice there all the time.Nana, Vatti and Bridgett came to visit two different times, on their way to and from Oregon. It was nice to get the see them more over the extended period of time. While they were here we took a tour of the conference center and were able to go on the top floor to the gardens for the first time. It was pretty amazing up there. Here is Gavin and Dad in front of one of the fountains, the top of the temple is behind them.
Bridgett, Gavin, Vatti and Nana at Temple Square. We also went on a hike and went to the zoo.
Henry was trying to soothe his poor gums in the giraffe house.
Vatti with Henry on the Lake Blanche hike.
Bridgett and Gavin hugging the gorilla.
Nana and Gavin, aren't they cute.
Just a few shots of us this month. What cute silly boys we have.

Zions National Park

While in Saint George, Caleb made a trip to Zions National Park to do a risky hike. We decided that it would be better not to take the boys on it, so I stayed in Saint George with them. The hike is to a point called "Angel's Landing". You can see it to the left side of the picture below... pretty high, and apparently fairly treachorous.
This is a shot of Caleb leaning back against the wall on the trail that is cut into the face of the cliff... Not much room... no room for being afraid of heights here.
This is a portion of the hike... the chain that you see if for holding on... and where exactly you are supposed to walk, I am not sure. Not long after this he decided to turn back and skip the summit, since several people die on this hike every year, and I had given him specific instructions not to come back dead. I am glad that he listened to me this time.
Even without making it all the way up, he got some fabulous shots of the scenery. We did go back for the morning on the day that we headed home and hiked around a bit before it got too hot.
My neice, Alaina, came home with us for the month of July and this was the first thing that we did together.
What cute boys. Henry was ready to be done and go to sleep.

Happy 4th in Saint George... aka the Hottest place on earth

For the 4th we went down to one of the hottest places that I have ever been... Saint George, Utah, to spend a few days with my sister, Schatzy, and her family. The highs range from 112-115 degrees while we were there, and the slight breeze felt like when you sit in front of the heater in your car. Not sure why people choose to live in that heat, but we survived our short stay, mostly because of the nice condo that Schatzy had rented for all of us to stay in, and the pool that it included. We spent a lot of time in the water.
Her is Tia Schatzy and Henry going for a float in the pool. We didn't want Henry to get much of the hot sun, so he is wearing Caleb's t-shirt as a turban. He was very content and loved the cool water.
Here is Miran and Tio Alan enjoying themselves.
This is Morgan, he liked to wear those floaties because he said they helped him swim faster. What a handsome dude.
Morgan and Gavin were laughing themselves silly while eating their Popsicles... pretty cute cousins.

Following Popsicles there was a crazy pillow fight... I wasn't very good at catching all the action on camera, but they certainly worked off the calories from their aforementioned treats.
Here is cute Cheyenne hanging out by Henry.
Caleb and Alaina relaxing.

Fun... and some other kids

Here are a couple of photos of fun things that we have done recently.
This is Gavin at Wheeler Farm riding the tractor... we thought Vatti would be so proud. I think he could have stayed up there all day.

We are just trying to beat the heat lately, so we bought a swimming pool... not a large one as you can tell, but he enjoys it. And in case anyone is doubting that Henry is now putting on a bit of weight... here is the proof. We love the chubby babies around our house.

And now on to kids who aren't actually mine....

This is Kaylee, one of my neices. Since Duane doesn't have a blog, here are a few cute pics for all to see. What a super cutie.

And one more... For those of you that know my Oregon roommate Mauri, this is her oldest daughter, Katelyn. She will be 3 in October and I really really love these photos. In case anyone has a doubt that girls can't do it all, just take a look at Katelyn and she will prove you wrong. I don't think we have much to worry about with women of thee future, they are coming to us ready for anything and loving it. I thought that these pics really needed to be shared with everyone I know.
