Happy Halloween- Avengers style

What a great Halloween! This was the first year that the boys all agreed that we should do a family theme and coordinate costumes. After Wyatt came home with a Captain America costume a month before Halloween, they all decided that an Avenger family was in order.
Since Henry had also been decked out as the Hulk when he was 2, we all agreed that Finn would take on the role. The first time in the costume, he totally freaked, but he warmed up to the idea and went around telling people "I Hulk Smash."

And he would even growl it and flex his little padded muscles.

Wyatt was a very handsome and brave Captain America. He loved his shield and would even try to throw it to see if it would come back to him.
Henry had a harder time choosing his favorite Avenger, but he eventually settled on Thor and loved it. He did wish that he had a long ponytail, but he wasn't willing to wear a blonde wig to make that happen. He still looked pretty tough without long hair. He was the only one strong enough to carry that hammer.
To follow up his last several Halloweens, Gavin chose the most difficult to find costume and had quite a few ideas about exactly how it should look. We managed to piece it together and it turned out pretty awesome. He was quite satisfied and quite handsome.
The last two Avengers fell to the parents of this crew to impersonate. The boys all decided that Caleb could dress as Tony Stark instead of having to sport an adult sized Iron Man costume. He pulled it off pretty well, glowing blue heart and all.
As the token female in this family, I was, of course, Black Widow. I was told by my children that my costume would have been more perfect if I had some guns strapped to my legs in holster, but I wasn't willing to overcommit to Halloween.
We were rocking the neighborhood. Though Tony Stark looked less impressive for trick-or-treating than he had for the weekend before.
The boys also had some great fun at the school parades. Nothing beats Halloween at an elementary school. Loads of fun.
Waiting to trick-or-treat.
Flexing their super big muscles.
This was the first Halloween that Finn really trick-or-treated and really understood what was going after the first couple of doors. He was such a funny thing wanting to stop and eat each piece of candy after he got it. He also wanted to walk everywhere and after an hour, he sat in the stroller and said he was done.

Jack-o-lanterns and pumpkin painting

Such a great time getting ready for Halloween this year. Finn got to paint his first pumpkin and he loved it and even loved his paint shirt.
The older boys got to work with the knives and started their carving.
Wyatt didn't get to use the knives this time, but he did make his own design and then had Caleb carve it.
Pumpkin and the boys all looked pretty cute at the end.

A Quick Temple Trip to Las Vegas

At the very end of October, I left Caleb and the boys behind and headed to Las Vegas to go with Cheyenne to her first time in the Las Vegas LDS Temple.
Getting there was a super crazy and frustrating experience. I was able to get a buddy pass to get a flight down, but it turns out that having a buddy pass actually doesn't give you much chance of getting on a plane. After getting very close to getting a seat 4 times, I was finally pretty sure that I wasn't going to get to go, when I got the last seat on the last flight on Friday night. It was definetely an answer to prayer, both mine and Cheyenne's.
I finally made it and had a great weekend hanging out.
We started the day with a 5k that Cheyenne had helped plan, Dad, Morgan and I ran the race. It was a first for Morgan and he did great.
Tho by the end, he wasn't sure that it was so great.
They also had some fun carnival games... for all ages.
After some shopping and some great Mexican food, we headed to the temple and had a great experience. It was so nice to be with family and to share with Cheyenne in her excitement of new things and getting ready for her mission.
What a great girl! She is so much fun.
Looking like a missionary already.
And great time with a great sister.

Hiking- Dog Lake and Lake Mary

We really soaked up the great fall weather on a new hike to Lake Mary, Dog Lake... and part of the way to Lake Catherine.
All of the boys started out strong, and most did well on the steep climb up the mountain. Finn decided to continue his trend of hating the hiking backpack, and threw several loud screaming fits on the way up the mountain.
These two were loving exploring all of the trails and constantly hunting for the best hiking stick possible.
Wyatt was loving finding a perfect rock to lay and sun himself, belly button and all.
He did also have some fun rock collecting moments.

The hiking parents enjoyed themselves too.
I have the cutest bunch of hikers.
