Last Morning in London and on to Bath

Our last morning in London was spent running... through Hyde Park. It was also our 12th Anniversary. Yep, we are super spoiled to get to spend it in England.
The Italian Gardens

The Flower Walk
Kensington Palace
Yep, those flowers match my pants.
We also passed through Green Park and St James Park to get back to our hotel.
After an exciting morning of tube stations being closed and dragging our luggage around to make our way to Paddington Station. We got on a train to Bath. For some reason we assumed getting out of London on a Saturday would mean getting away from the crowds, but we were dead wrong when we chose Bath as our weekend destination. Apparently, most of England also chose to go there. The place was packed. We got off the train and headed to the largest landmark to try and finally meet up with the Petersens.
Bath Abbey

Just a small taste of the crowds near the Roman Bath and the Abbey... and a photo bomb by Michelle.
Caleb and I took the tour of the Roman Baths. The site had been covered at some point and was uncovered and excavated when the house that was built on top of it kept getting water in the basement and finally called a plumber to come and dig and figure it out. A pretty incredible find.
Even though it make us all look like ultimate tourists, the audio tour at this site was also a nice feature because of how silent and peaceful it was around the baths.
The baths sit right next to the Abbey.
The main tube to bring in the steaming hot bath water.
And the main drain... big enough for a person to walk through in case they had to haul out any large objects or people.

The water was not as sanitary as you might hope, tho that seems to keep people from trying to get in it.

A great view from the water to the top of the Abbey.
After the roman baths we loaded up with the Petersens to head to our holiday house in Leigh-upon-Mendip. It was a great country house, and we enjoyed our first pub meal just down the road. The entire village was only made up on one road. The drive there was also a first for us, on the very windy and very narrow English countryside roads.
