On Friday the 13th, Gavin was chosen to be the Star Student for his class and be honored at an all student assembly. It was supposed to be a surprise, so I didn't tell him that the little boys and I were coming to the school. We were sitting in the back with a lot of other parents, but he spotted us right away when he came in. I think he knew then that he was getting the award.
For each assembly the principal draws a name out of a jar for a child to sit in her big office chair. The names are added by kids when do something noteworthy during the month and get a ticket to with their name on it. Gavin got lucky and was drawn from about 700 tickets to sit in the big chair. He was so excited. I love watching him in a setting like school where he seems so grown up and has such a fun time.
